Got it at an auto dealer. It’s a former Texas DPS. I spent a few months checking the entire country for one with good options and not 3 accidents. I flew out to pick it up and drove it back 3 states / 1,337 miles in 2 days. It was so fun.
Things that were broken when I got it:
- no horn
- key fob but not connected ($189 for programming at dealer)
- no cig lighter (had to wire one in weeks later). To start I wired it off the radio because I couldn’t find anything else to plug in, but it stays on when the car is off. Sucks. hah. I don’t know if they pulled them out or if they drove without them.
- no middle dome light that it’s supposed to come with (complete darkness at night)
- missing the interceptor on front (because the hood painted)
- missing the police interceptor on back (gave me a lose one)
- The windshield squirter doesn’t work (seems to leak out) – Thought it was the reservoir being cracked but it was fine. It was a tube disconnected. Fixed that only to discover it was missing the right squirter/tube.
- they cut the power distribution block out and left the LIVE WIRE just dangling in the seat behind the 2nd seats. I accidentally touched it to metal and spark went flying. Dangerous!
Gave me a Texas DPS customized (Texas star vent) Jottodesk Console with a $200 lockbox. (no keys). That woulda cost me a ton to get on my own.
Looks awesome with the cage divider visible from the rear
OPTIONS:
- You MUST get the Sync Voice Activated for Bluetooth or your life will be horrible. You’ll have to wire up an external Bluetooth that will not be as good. haha.
- Has line-in USB and Aux In. Great. The
- The 3.5L twin turbo is more money to repair but it’s WAY faster. It’s worth it. This thing flies. (Ecoboost)
- Remote Keyless (only useful if they actually give you working ones, without it’s $190 to program new ones)
- Wiring Grill/Lamp/Siren/Speakers – Super useful if you’re going to run lights
- Rear Lighting Solution – Mixed, there are 2 lights in the tailgate and 2 more than can hang down. You can do without it if you’re not running lights.
- Front Headlamp Housing – You can put your flashers in because they drill out the holes for you. There were two red/blue already in there I discovered.
- Cloth Seats / No idea why that’s useful or not. To me, they feel comfortable but some people prefer vinyl.
- Aux Climate Control – Not sure what I could really do with that but it’s cool. It’s for cooling the back, and back equipment, or perhaps to help get to your rear passengers.
- Rear Tail Lamp Housing – Able to easily put in flashers in rear tail lights.
What I didn’t get that I really wish I had was
- BLIS (blind spot assist and cross traffic warnings). Grab that if you can find it.
- Built-in mirror lights ($300 upgrade) “side marker”
- Bottom flashing driving lights
I think this is what it used to look like:
